Q: How have your cultural roots influenced your performances? A: About the cultural roots and how it influences my art… I come from Lamaholot culture in East Nusa Tenggara, and we have a lot of amazing and wonderful art practices that have been done through generations. It has been deeply influencing my art practice in terms of its participatory aspect, its improvisation aspect… and how it–how almost all the art practices in my culture is something that is transdisciplinary. Co-creation is encouraged and integrated within the social system, even. What I really love is how the collectivity and the inclusivity is very prevalent in all of the practices such as in Sole Oha and Dolo dance which has been my centre of research for my art practice in my master degree in the past year.
